I love the F10, and this one ticks every single feature box I would want, with the exception that it's not a sport. However, it does have the dynamic package, which, IIRC, forces the "sport" package upgrade (bar bodywork).

I think this is a great price but then it is 2.5 years old, not that that bothers me

Hope that link works.

Thing is, wifey wants a touring, because if we keep this car as long as I've had the E60, she expects kids

I have it from a reliable source that there are families that survive without Touring spec cars.

Are you looking to be the next Waltons?

So much room in that thing for a child,

So that doesn't have the sport body work? Looks fairly sporty to me as a layman :)

I should add, dog(s) into that equation too. To be fair, I don't mind the F11, but finding one with similar kit to this will take a while I fear!!

Looks like good value to me and a nice spec. The f10 and 11 look good in SE specs too in my view. If you don't need a touring could be a good option. Personally I like tourings (and have 2 kids and 2 dogs) and almost bought another after the E61 I had but went X5 instead though.

Isn't the E61/F11 load space larger than the x5 though? Or did you just want to sit above all the other cars :)

I think it is on paper, in practical terms I can't see much difference for luggage. Loads of space in one and loads in the other. We still fill it with dogs, pushchairs and bags for even one night away!

My wife likes the 'command' driving position (we used to have a truck and she missed it) and felt the x5 was a bit younger than the e61. I was dubious but really enjoyed my test drive and found it to be much more dynamic than other SUVs I've driven. I am a big fan of the tourings and would gladly have another but we are both happy with the X5 (we only have one car so important). The 7 seats helped tip us towards the X5 as well, allowing us to go out with the nippers and cousins / friends.

I think that F10 looks great. Have you tried to negotiate on it yet?

Why is it these days people think you need to drive something the size of a bus if you have a kid? It's ridiculous.

For kids, 4 doors are good and you want a boot that can take a pushchair or two and luggage and shopping. Anything focus sized or up works if all you have is a sprog or two.

Going to see them for a test drive tomorrow at 10am. I'm ok with the price, more than infact, but if they moved on it a bit it's a bonus. I'd take a further year or twos warranty and an extended BMW Assist over a price drop though :)

Talk you out of it?
No adaptive cruise, no HUD, no comfort seats..

Uh... and the beige and blue is a little old man.

Took it out today. The engine is simply stunning, and oddly, quite frugal which surprised me. We averaged 37mpg on a mix of A/B and dual carriageway. The ride was a bit more crashy than the E60 (19" RFTs on this F10), but the biggest noticeable increase for me was road noise. Still, a great car. They want to give me £11k for mine :(
