Talk Talk Fibre & HG333 Info

hmm .. i have queried the whoel speed thing on the TT forum site ... the exchange is a mile away .... but the green cabinet is about 300 yards away. im already running faster than the 30 mb i was quoted , so wonderign if takign the higher speced "large" version will get me higher performance

You should use the address or telephone number.

telephone number checker only works with bt lines

address checker comes up with same results

the TT forums admins say im actually running above the speed im showing i should get, which is an odity in itself. they can't advice if id get better going fibre large

You must be a reasonable distance from the cab if the estimate is 40Mb/s. Unlocking the modem is the only way to find the real stats.

I have been with Be*, Sky, Virgin, o2, Orange, BT and now Talk Talk.

No word of a lie, Talk Talk has been the best. Totally unlimited downloads, I have not encountered any traffic shaping what so ever. There Fibre package is excellent and I get the full quoted speeds with very low pings. I have been downloading since Wednesday and have not experienced any slow downs or traffic shaping. Totally a rock solid connection :) There telephone support is very poor but which provider isn't??? They have a very good support forum where you can talk to somebody much more experienced and get the help you require. It may take a day to get a response but once the ball is rolling I did find it much better getting the help from there.

There router the HG 533 is very good to be fair, I have a TP link router that I have tried and the Talk Talk provided one out performs it in every way! Not bad for a free one. I may purchase a better one later on as it only gives you 100 Mb Ethernet link not 1GB! But this is not really needed for me yet.

Wi-Fi has been rock solid since Wednesday, I have numerous devices connected, Samsung Galaxy S3 and a S1, 2 Laptops and a PC. Not one device has dropped connection nor slowed down, the Wi-Fi has not missed a beat.

It has a rear USB on the router which you can plug an external HDD to use it as a Network drive, this feature is very good, only one issues is that you never will see speeds above 3Mb/s accessing it.

thepiratebay.sx works and you can access it, is that the site you mentioned?

Over all Talk Talk has been very good :) Only had Fibre since Wednesday but WOW what a difference time has come can remember the old dial tones with AOL!!! Very impressive and very good value for money! :)

pokerking . how long have you been signed up with them for fibre ? did you get the btopenreach white modem to go with the hg 533 router ? wasn't expecting that when the engineer came . bit of a pain having 2 boxes as i thouht that was the point of the hg533

Hi, I have had TT Fibre since Wednesday, it only came available 2 weeks ago, logged in just off the off chance to see if it was available yet, quoted 2014 for my exchange! And bang Fibre was available! Took a week for the engineer to turn up and yes he did instal the white open reach box and a new faceplate, one for the line and another for the phone, so that means you get full speeds as it bypasses any extensions in the home, so it goes direct from the BT Master to the Open reach box then via Ethernet to the TT router. Yeah seems a little silly having two boxes but means I can switch the TT box if required, you couldn't do this with ADSL as the exchange would see it as a disconnect and lower your SNR.

Brilliant service :)

A week in and its rock solid!! Loving the speeds :D
