Talk Talk help.........stuck with it !

The place im living at the moment has talk talk internet, when it works it works very well then at other times it grinds to a halt literally giving me less than .5mb speeds.

Anyone look at stats and see if its ok?

Im still using the standard echolife modem/router thing, would a upgrade help that much?

Also something i found funny was i undid the faceplate and plugged the filter into the socket and it wouldnt connect to the net?

Those stats look about right considering it seems Talk Talk is limiting it to a SNR of 12.

Can you check the stats when your connection is on the go-slow? If they're broadly speaking the same then I would point the finger at Talktalk's network being the limiting factor. Whether that would be by design (eg throttling of bittorrent) or a simple lack of capacity (erk!) is as yet unclear.

If however the stats have changed dramatically; perhaps a lower sync speed and lots of errors, then that would point the finger at your router or the phone line.

Best for you to do some checking when it's next horribly slow!

You might get a better response on the TalkTalkMembers forums here: http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums/ - one of the OCE's will be able to talk you through their usual checks and also make sure DLM isn't putting you on a low, unstable profile every so often

My internet (well my parents) has been with Pipex for years, but aren't they part of talktalk now? Do you know if I can still use the forum you listed above as an old Pipex customer?
