been looking at a new internet provider now i have to leave virgin

very keen on sky broadband but looking online talktalk can supply a faster connection
sky and bt are around 50-70mbs
but talk talk are offering 150mbs or thereabouts

how can they offer a substantially faster speed when they effectively use BT infrastructure

or am i missing something?

Looks like your property may have FTTP available.

What's https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com say?

not currently living there so cannot use the phone number check

I'd say Sky and BT aren't offering it as the figures are very marginal (Ofcom advertising rules strike again). Best case scenario you end up with an upload speed that is slower than FTTC, in exchange for 20-30Mbps on the download speed - up to you whether that is worth it.

It’s G.Fast enabled, Sky don’t offer it hence the discrepancy.

Sky and TalkTalk have both started offering g.fast and FTTP - I was on g.fast with Sky until recently, but they won’t offer the faster profile speed that BT etc. will.
