Hi all,

my parents have bought a laptop which can take upto 300mbps (wireless)

but they are with talk talk as there isp , does anyone know which routers they support? they didnt get a free router when they signed up.

I do have a Be router spare 54MBps will that work?

Just pick up a DG834GT or similar from the auction site for a few quid, probably more than up to doing the job for them.

Your Be* box *would* work but would possibly require a firmware change as Be did some odd things with the one that I had which were hard coded into the router, though this may not be the case now. Also bear in mind if you ever cancelled your Be service they would ask for it back.

ahh right , ill try and pick a DG834G up for now then, would have liked 270mbps but they cant afford £100 for a router

Its pretty pointless as well to be honest, won't work anywhere close to the speeds they claim in most circumstances and unless there is really a need for it (streaming HD media for instance) its just a waste of money.

What about this, £54.39 for a decent brand N class wireless ADSL router is quality imo

Just dont forget to lower the MTU to 1400 and use some alternate DNS servers like OpenDNS for speeding up browsing etc

Thanks for that :) but im going to see what they have in the MM first

Any router should work in theory, i unlocked
my Voyager 2091 thingy to work with talktalk and it was fine

Well thats what i thought but aparently not! i've just found out that they take netgears DG834G V2,3,4 routers. aparently they dont chap properly and loose connection ?!!? meh.

Ive setup plenty of Netgear DG834G's for clients on Talktalk, all versions 2,3,4 etc - just make sure the firmware is upto date thats all.
