Im currently with sky broadband "connect". Terrible service and slow as anything. However its my parents line and its the cheapest option while im away at uni.

But afew weeks ago I checked our exchange to see if ADSL2+ had been installed (was due in march last year), well it wasnt but I see TalkTalk have installed their own kit into the exchange.

So thinking i would be able to get 24mb speeds i checked talktalks line tester but their checker is saying i can get the amazing speed of......5.7mbs :o:confused: Im currently getting the same from sky.

Any ideas why? Also are talk talk any good?

Heres my exhcange http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/SSHGH

Funny thing TalkTalk, they seem to somewhat of a Marmite product - you either love them or hate them. I have a friend who cant speak highly enough of them, then you will find 20,000 other people who cant say anything good about them!

aprox 680 metres from the exchange but ofc the line could be (probs is) way longer. Going on the reviews I must admit im slightly put off now.

Changing Service provider isn't likely to affect your line speed at all. That will only be governed by the technology and distance from the exchange (which for the same physical line will remain a constant). E.g if you're on ADSL max and move to ADSL2+ you will see an improvement, but simply moving from one providers ADSL2+ to another won't be of much benefit at all.

Going on average customer experience I wouldn't advise moving from sky to Talk talk.

If it's cheaper go for it (I imagine it is) as you will be getting a the same speed but better support I'd say.

I personally haven't experienced anything bad with TalkTalk - wouldn't recommend them highly either but nothing to suggest it will be a bad choice.
