talk talk router versus Asus 55n

Just gone for talk talk 35mbpscbroadband, it came with router and TV box.

Is my Asus a55n adsl router better or worse router?

Also when it said cable broadband how come still using telephone cable? It looks like my adsl router plugging into phone line and needing filter
