Basically i'm currently have a SKY Broadband Connect package which is so bad (some evenings less the 200kbps) that they are are letting me go without having to pay off the rest of my broadband contract.

Problem is, I appear to be on the worst exchange in Nottingham and Samknows suggests my only non-business LLU is TalkTalk. Oddly enough though, PlusNet suggest that they cann offer me up to about 14mbps based on their connection checker, which wouold suggest they are LLU, but they don't appear on Samknows.

Now I don't expect either to be particularly good, but surely they can't be as bad as SKY Connect. Has anyone ahd any experience with either of them or any opinions?

I'm with TalkTalk, mainly because they're cheap but we get 8.5mbs on their up to 8mb package which is great. They've also vowed to resist the digital economy bill and wont hand your details to anyone with a court order :).

I've tried the connection intot he master socket (behind the faceplate) and it made no difference. From what i've read SKY have essentaially given up on Broadband Connect (which makes sense as it usees BT equipment rather than their own on the main packages) and contention is through the roof. I get near enough 8mb overnight, but in the evenings it's virtually unusable.

I'm under the impression that exchanges upgraded under BT's "21CN" program are capable of up to 24mb/s without LLU. Not sure if that applies to your exchange, but down here our exchange (apparently) went 21CN in March.

Hi there,

we don't offer any LLU products (although we have done in the past).

As FoxEye has alluded to, the estimated speedcheck will be based on the fact that we can provision your line on BT Wholesale's ADSL2+ 21CN product.

Best rgds,

I'm on PlusNet and a thumbs up from me although I'm on one of the dearer packages, 'Pro'. Upgraded me last month to ADSL2+ for free and now get downloads max around 1.6MB/sec (15mbit or so), great pings and ZERO traffic shaping/throttling. Okay there is a peak cap of 25GB I believe but 12am-8am is not included.. :P

I've found Plusnet customer service very good. Unfortunately I'm around 2.5miles from the exchange so my connection is very poor despite being on the "Pro" package. Not their fault of course...planning my next house move to be in an area with decent broadband!

I'm on plusnet and their all good
you know EXACTLY what to expect as all their shaping is laid out.
only issues I'm having is it's taken FOUR MONTHS for them to sort out my home phone package.
and it's still not resolved! keep getting messages saying it's only 15 days away. EVERY 14 DAYS!! ahhhhhhhhhh!
to be fair they have kept me updated!

Best rgds,

Thanks for your help in clearing that up. Out of interest, on your throttling table, do you know if services like Sopcast are considered p2p on it, or video streaming?
