So, in serious need of cheering up, and after considering a gpu upgrade for days, I figured it that wasn't really going to give me anything to distract me over what I have already.

So anyway, I currently have an Iiyama E2710 HDS, which I like and have not had for long, but got a hankering for 3D.

So I believe I only have two options: the Samsung 950D versus all the other 120Hz 3D monitors with 3D vision?

I am reluctant about 3D Vision as I don't want to be tied down to a single platform. Ok, to be honest am reluctant on 950D as price is way high, but meh.

Am I right in thinking that with the 950D ATI cards will work without issue in 3D? Do I require anything special? Currently have 5850.

Also, my current set-up goes as follows:
Have Onkyo HTX22-HD surround sound system which I feed my PC (both audio and video) and consoles into via hdmi, and video goes from hdmi out to monitor.

I believe I would need to use displayport for getting 3D (or dvi, yes). Would I still be able to use the HDMI for audio? Otherwise would need to resort to optical, which is likely only going to give me stereo.

If I still used HDMI for audio from PC I know that it will pick up the fact it's connected as a secondary display, and just wasn't sure if this would cause me issues? By saying my monitor does not support 120Hz or something?

Does the 950D have an easy way of switching inputs?

And would the 950D also work witht he PS3 3D games such as Killzone 3?

Didn't put in my arguments for or against going 3D Vision

Would now need two monitors, as not going smaller than 27" for general use, so are there arms available that would allow me to keep the smaller 3D monitor off to one side, and then swing in front of my 27"?

Obviously I would need an Nvidia GPU, and I assume that this will not work with PS3 or future consoles at all?

Actually, are there any benefits to going 3D Vision over the new Samsung 3D monitros?

The Samsung cant be easily wall mounted as it doesnt have VESA mounting holes. Why couldnt u get the 27" 950D and use it for desktop and gaming?

Sorry, seems I was not clear. If I got the 950D, obviously I would use it for general + gaming, and just have the one monitor.

It's if I went with a 3D Vision setup that I would need the two monitors, as can't see any 27" 3D Vision monitors, so would land up getting a 23".

The 27" 3D Vision compatible Acer one (HN274H) is showing as in-stock and deliverable tomorrow, from where I bought mine here in the UK back in May before the Sammy's had launched. Never seen availability of it dry up yet. So I got your meaning, I just know the 2 monitors thing is actually an unnecessary decision/compromise.

Can't give you a link/name (forum rules despite OCUK never selling the product or showing interest in doing so, it would still I guess 'compete' against the OCUK/Sammy relationship), but just look through the usual suspects / big names.
