I've always had a soft spot of the Celica's, both the mk6 and mk7, although more the mk7 if I'm honest, and was looking at buying one last year but other things took priority.

Anyway, I've got around £2k (might be able to stretch to £2.5k) to spend on one, and I've seen a couple of 190bhp versions that are local to me for around £1750-£2250. Mileage varies between 100k to 120k with full service history. Is the mileage anything to worry about?

Is there anything else I need to check when buying?

Good cars. Handle well with some top end revving fun. Go for lower mileage if possible. Check clutch and master cylinder okay and radiator not blown.

Deffo 190 over the 140. Different, better engine.

Have owned one for just over 2 years now, just about to hit 100k miles, and touch wood it's not needed anything major, just the usual services.

Definitely go for the 190, as the 190 feels quite underpowered under normal driving, you really need to use the full rev range to take full advantage of the engine.

We paid just under £2,400 for a facelift 190 T-Sport, so you should be able to find something.
