Going to Glasgow next year for the swimming European championships and wondering what people's picks are for food there, lunches & teas?

Indian, Italian, British what ever there is. The only caveat is that my partner is vegetarian so options can be limited for her.

Last time we went there we went to Sarti on Bath Street which was nice so something along those lines. :)

plenty of time to ditch the partner and get a new one and experience he best restaurants in G town :)

joking aside I could list you a load of excellent places but honestly would be stumped with the vegetarian stuff.

There are so many places in Glasgow, its honestly hard to know where to start. Mind you, most of the good places I know aren't really geared towards vegetarians.

Two Fat Ladies in the City is excellent. Nana Kusa is a fantastic Japanese resteraunt. McPhabbs is really nice for a lunch or brunch. I've not been there personally, but I've heard a lot of good things about Deesserts if you want a sweet treat (and yes that is how you spell it)

I was getting ready to give you a great list of places until you dropped the V-Bomb.

If you like pizza I'd highly recommend Peasano. I know they offer veggie options and it's by far the best pizza I've ever had outside of Italy.

haha, I know, right? I wanted to suggest Grill on the Corner or Alston Bar & Beef, but I don't think they have enough vegetarian courses to make them good recommendations.

Tony Macaroni is a decent Italian, even if its a chain.

*cracks fingers*. Here we go!

I've been dating a vegetarian, and it's been pretty good trying food I've not been eating.

Nice dinners:
Six by Nico - They change their menu every six weeks to a new theme. It's a tasting menu, and they do a normal person as well as vegetarian. You can also swap dishes around from the two of them. It's in the most vibrant area of Glasgow, Finnieston. Lots of bars and pubs. Very friendly and safe area.
Number 16 - It's tiny, but they probably serve the best food in Glasgow (I've said it!). They focus on Scottish ingredients and do it very well. On Byres Road, which is one of the hippest places in the city. A stone throw from Ashton Lane where you can have a good drink afterwards - Ashton Lane caters to a slightly older crowd which is nice.
The Gannet - Again, good Scottish produce. Modern and stylish. Caters for vegetarians. - Same area as Finnieston.

Italians:
Celinos - I'd say it's the best Italian in Glasgow. There's not a lot nearby, but it's not far if you're at Tollcross Pool. Great service. Place is always packed no matter what night (I was their on a dreich Tuesday night a few weeks ago and it was full), food is brilliant.
La Lanterna - It doesn't look like much. It's on the wrong side of Central Station but you're literally 2 minutes walk from Glasgow City Centre. But it's a classic. It's exactly what you want from an Italian restaurant. Great service, friendly staff, good fun, nice wine and the food is fantastic.

'Ethnic':
Shilla - Korean food. I ate there last week with my Vegetarian and was bowled away by it. - In Finnieston.
Hanoi Bike Club - Vietnamese. They make their own tofu onsite. Nice area for a mooch around as well. - Byres Road.
Chaakoo Bombay Cafe - Indian. Again, lots of vegetarian options. Great cocktails and good service. Tapas style so you can try a lot. - City Centre.

Honorary mention:
The Red Onion - I've not actually eaten here, but they do a vegan set menu, very into gluten free food but cater for normal people as well. I've heard great things, and it's on the list to get to! - City Centre.

If you have a particular cuisine, let me know and I'll recommend somewhere. I'm out for dinner twice a week usually so go to a lot of places!

If you like Indian my personal favourite is Dakhin on Candleriggs. It's South Indian, so has plenty of vegetarian options (I assume; my eyes don't see vegetarian options lol).

For more fine dining oriented resturants; La Bonne Auberge, Urban, and Blythswood are all good. Especially Blythswood.

Ranjits Kitchen - Number 1 on trip advisor

suits vegetarians to a tea

more upmarket then try chakoo bombay cafe.

kebabish is great but only really paneer for vegetarians albeit food is amazing and astonishingly cheap. cooked on an open charcoal grill.

Rasoi in Lenzie is great too - been impressed every time, albeit expensive

Just got back from Chaakoo and it was superb. Really enjoyed it. It was a bit loud because of the music but the general atmosphere was good. The food was great, and because it's tapas style being able to have that variety in flavour and textures is lovely.

Going to Cubatas tomorrow, Sarti (Bath street) Sunday (we've been there before and really enjoyed it), Hanoi Bike Shop and Halloumi on Monday and Six by Nico on Tuesday. It's 70s themed menu... I was not around in the 70s so it'll be interesting to say the least! :D

@Azza there's a food festival at candleriggs in Merchant City today, it’s called Big Feed On Tour, should be good! It’s free, and there are lots of bars nearby.
Free entry, if you see a golden retriever with a green lead come and say hi.

I am glad you enjoyed. I have also been to this place and was very impressed. We had the set menu which came with lots of little dishes, all very good quality. Not the cheapest place certainly but I think its value for money considering the quality of the food on offer.

I think the best curry place in Glasgow at the moment is a small takeaway in the west end called Curry Pot.

i went to one of those tasting menu places last year in I think west end of Glasgow. food looked good. tasted garbage though. every second dish was sweet. pureed fruit nonsense. the meat was amazing but all that extra nonsense just ruined it for me.

i like the idea of trying one of their themed menus like they did a chippie version. however they are on for a limited time only and no doubt booked out. the place was packed and we were on a small table for 2. wine as expected was extortionate.

restaurant wise chakoo as i mentioned before is probably the best in the city centre. i've been to dhakin but south indian is hit or miss. their small eats are better than their mains. all their breads are soggy, etc. balbirs probably the best in the west end.

chinese loon fung on sauchiehall street is really good. authentic too if you stick to their a la carte menu or the specials board. every time i have been there there has been like 10 chinese people to 1 british. never had a bad meal. it's all good.

burger then so many choices but i like chunky chicken - peri chicken burger or boneless banquet with rice and fries. steak cattle and roll if you don't want a chicken burger.

pizza then it has to be mozza or la paesano.

yet to find a decent thai or mexican restaurant. so if anyone has opinions to share they are welcome. i've been to thailand and stayed at 5 star hotels, etc. so my standards are high as with all food tbh. i tried the thai place on sauchiehall street, it's upstairs and quite small. wasn't impressed. would call it standard/average, think it's called thairiffic.
