Just wanted to know if it is normal for the brake pads (new ones) to be quite significantly wedge shaped, to the extent that only a small portion of the pad is touching the disc.

They are OEM VW (Ferodos I believe) fitted by VW (hence why I am hesitating in believing they have done them correctly!). The car is stopping normally and initially I thought they would wear quickly and then become flush with the disc, but 1k on and they are the same shape. These are the fronts, the rears are absolutely flush to the disc.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

the wedge is normal. they have a chamfer or however you spell it?

the rears maybe flush if theyve been on long enough to wear out the chamfer

vw oem is not ferrodo. more likely ate or pagid

Thanks for that. The rears were changed at the same time as the fronts. The VW OEM normally are Pagids I believe but for some reason VW have fitted Ferodos with VW logos on them!

for a laugh, why not get a pic up of new pads for your front and rear. i guess the rear pads have less of a chamfer when new?
