Talkmobile

That's a ridiculous exaggeration

Perhaps a little, but I stand by it.

I'd be interested to hear why if you're serious :p

Sure, I'll keep it fairly short though as nobody is going to change their mind.

Simply put, it adds consistency throughout the UI. It removes the cheap, inconsistent feel of Android adds a polished feel to it (it's not just visual though). Also, the widgets are excellent and many people spend a long time trying to replicate them on non-Sense phones.

That is true, I have seen a lot of people asking for Sense ROMs on XYZ phones.

I've obviously been using TouchWiz on the SGSII a lot and to be honest I think it does everything fine, for instance I wouldn't specifically choose a HTC phone over a Samsung phone purely for the UI and associated features. I'm sure I recall people complaining about it though which I don't understand really. Only complaint I have so far is that the scrollable power control widget is naff.

Have to say though I did get a long with stock Android, just felt it lacked things specifically designed to help the user. For example on the stock lock screen you cannot get straight to a text message, that feature has been a god send for me on the SGSII :p

I want TouchWiz on my phone.

But tbh I'm happy with GoLauncher, so much more customizable than the stock launcher.

On the bottom of my bill it says this:

Tariff Information:

Your Network: TMT
Your Choosen Tariff: TM Smart Plan £30 12M

Daytime Weekend Evening
Local/National 30p per minute 30p per minute 30p per minute
To TMT mobiles 30p per minute 30p per minute 30p per minute
To Other Mobiles 30p per minute 30p per minute 30p per minute
VoiceMail Retrieval

Is that the charges if I go over my 400mins? Surely I don't pay 30p per minute talking to someone on a different phone network??

I was worried about moving from Sense to TW, but now that I have used both, I see they are on an even keel with regards to my usage. Hardware takes the lead for me now.

Sense is undoubtedly better, but Touchwiz 4.0 is by no means bad and is very usable.

The most annoying thing about Samsung phones:

- The utter turd they bloat it with.
- The software on your computer you have to use (Kies) isn't great
- The fact that Samsung drop support for devices so quickly, and they never communicate with their customers - both of which HTC did brilliantly. I mean, would it kill Samsung to set up a Twitter or FB page to announce updates that are coming or stuff like that?

But if Samsung really want to challenge the likes of the iPhone etc, then they simply have to improve on this.

A) Your average joe who wants a cool, new smartphone isn't going to know what titanium backup is or what freezing an app is or even what rooting is. Hell i don't really know and i'm well into my tech stuff. Not to mention voiding their warranty. Surely the easiest thing here is for Samsung to just not put their crap on the phones?

B) Again, the average joe doesn't know what Odin is, and even if they did, they would think "Well, if some random programmer can make a program like Odin, then why couldn't a multi billion pound company like Samsung?". Surely the easiest thing here is for Samsung to push through their updates quickly through Kies. (and also improve Kies).

C) I, like the majority of Galaxy S2 owners, WILL be bothered by this. If i've just bought a £500 phone i want it to be supported for 12-18months at the minimum.

Like i said, if Samsung want to really want to make their phones mainstream and iPhone destroyers, they need to make their phones and software more reliable, easier to use and market them more to the non-geeky side of the market, which accounts for most sales, which means making their phones so good that people don't need to root them, or use other software for work arounds - they just work with no fuss.

I hate to say it, but this is where Apple have really got the drop on pretty much everyone apart from HTC. If the HTC Sensation had the specs of the Galaxy S2, i would have got the HTC in a heartbeat - because they are so easy to use and have reliable software.

Ok.

Talk Mobile customer service is confusing.

I had a call today regarding a question I asked, and it appears that the contract is indeed unlimited "all you can eat" unlimited, I asked about a fair usage policy and apparently there is not one, as long as I don't breech the terms of use like using it the Internet on my pc, or streaming live tv apparently or downloading movies, then it's fine.

Apparently the moving all of unlimited contracts to 1gb is only for those breeching the terms of use.
