Can anyone figure out why my connection keeps dropping randomly ? The adsl light on my router flashes for am inute or so and then kicks back into life. The problem has been there for a month or so.

Talktalk did a line check and this was all ok.

I copied and pasted the status details above just after the problem occured.

Interestingly the PPP time is 2.29mins... what does this mean ?

I had a similar issue with TalkTalk when we changed to them from BT - we suddenly started getting much faster speeds from TalkTalk than we ever had with BT, but the line kept dropping randomly and the router would have to reset. After many fruitless conversations with TalkTalk tech support they decided to try my line on a different 'profile' and hey presto all worked! We were getting less speed (although still faster than BT) but haven't suffered any more drops at all since. If you are getting faster speeds than with a previous supplier then this could be worth a try.

Your SNR margin is 5.6dB. This is quite low and might give your router a hard job holding onto the connection, especially in the evening when the line gets more noisy.

Sounds like your target SNR has been set to 6dB. This is fine for lines that are naturally quite stable, but yours seems to have more noise on it. You could phone them and get them to increase the target SNR to 9dB - this would drop your speed by a few hundred kbps but should make the line more stable.

Do you leave your router on?
After a month, you should have found that you had a slightly lower sync rate than you started off but at times your SNR margin would be a good bit above 6 (and you'd have a stable connection).
