TalkTalk DSL - new router

Got a friend on TalkTalk broadband with constant sync issues, was going to change him to a different router. Any recommendations as he's got the crappy talktalk freebie at the mo. DG834G V4?

Next best thing would be to ditch TalkTalk!
 
He's never had a problem prior to moving to Talktalk. He has to turn his router off daily... He was with BT previously and it worked

It's not a case of ignoring your advice, I was just commenting further.

I am due to "rob" some microfilters to change, but my thoughts about talktalk is the suck a bit like O2
 
I was with Nildram who have recently been taken over by TalkTalk and since the change my connection drops on almost a daily basis as well requiring a router reset - or if you call talk talk and wait an hour getting through they can reset the line from their end and it works so its not the router thats the problem. I just think they do it on purpose to stop people leaving there machines turned on downloading 24/7 - never happened with Nildram - been considering switching to Sky instead.
 
I would agree that the Netgear DG834G v4 is a great ADSL router - the v5 is the absolute pits.

As a suggestion, assuming that your friend doesn't download actually 24/7, have you considered connecting the router to mains through a mains timer and having it switch off for a while at a convenient time - e.g. 03:00 to 06:00?
