My PC is connected fine via DHCP in the router however my fresh install of XP on my netbook will not obtain an IP Address.

I have tried static and auto and nothing gives me an internet connection. I am stumped.

Setup on the router looks like this:

DHCP Settings
DHCP - Server
Client IP Pool Starting Address - 192.168.1.2
Size of Client IP Pool - 253
Primary DNS Server 0.0.0.0
Secondary DNS Server 0.0.0.0
Remote DHCP Server N/A
DHCP Lease Time 3 Days 0 Hours 0Min
DHCP Table
Host Name IP Address MAC Address Status

mattpc 192.168.1.2 00:1F:1F:7E:2A:BE Auto
acer 0.0.0.0 00:23:4D:11:9D:48 Auto

No matter what I do that IP address will not appear for my laptop.

Is the netbook sending DHCP requests? So setting the netbook to 192.168.1.3 manually not working (the netbook wont get 192.168.1.2 because mattpc has already leased it)?

Have you set the network card using rj45 or lan cable on the netbook to obtain ip automatically ie plug a cable directly from your netbook to the lan port on the back off Huawei.
switch on then type in Windows Start > run > Cmd.exe > type on the flashing cursor Ipconfig /all
see if netbook has got a IP address should be 192.168.1.2 etc Huawei should have address 192.168.1.1 by default type Http://192.168.1.1 should bring up the Huawei screen.
