Hi,

I have recently moved to an area where the local exchange is a bit behind the times, the only LLU enabled ISP is TalkTalk...

So do I go with a standard adsl package which will essentially be BT wholesale junk, or will I get better results going with TalkTalk and their LLU service.

A couple years back I heard some god awful stuff about TalkTalk broadband when it first launched, so I'm very hesitant

Thanks for your time

please dont go with talktalk. im on it now, and its terrible.
its not my router either, the actual signal they send out keeps cutting out regularly, im on an up to 8mb connection but only running at 1.6 even though the exhange is only 2 damn miles away

Like said above stay well clear of talk talk so many people have problems with them and when you look at it there pricing isn't even that good.

I use to thave the same problem on talktalk but then ran a TCP/IP analyzer and found that talktalk adsl installtion cd had under optimised my pc. I downloaded an app and changed a few of my windows tcp/ip settings and now very often get 6-7mb off usenet where as before i was getting 2.5 if I was lucky. Also videos on youtube play properly whereas before it like being 128k connection the amount of loading pauses I got.

Heres the tcp/ip test i used http://www.speedguide.net/analyzer....IP_TOS=0&IP=78.150.67.98&timestamp=1234439600

EDIT : It may also be worth phoning talktalk and asking them for a LAN modem instead of those cheap ADSL ones. They sent mine for free. Should add as well that pings aren't exactly brilliant though with talktalk.

Llu isn't better, it's just a better way of saving them money i.e increasing their profits, they deliberately overload the pipes. Honestly you're better taking a good isp on wholesale that will give you consistent service (and pings) than talktalk, llu or not.

Adsl 24 comes to mind.

Edit: Check if o2/be is enabled, they don't exactly rush to tell people when they've done an exchange.
