Hi,

I have no idea how phone/internet stuff works hopefully someone can help me.

I have just moved house and had to cancel my BT contract as they quoted me £124 to install a line at the new place. There is a line there and the previous occupant was with TalkTalk.

I have read pretty bad reviews of their Broadband service and am keen to avoid if possible. Soooo.... if i go with TalkTalk for the phone service can i get a different ISP for Broadband? Previously with BT i used BEunlimited who were great but require a BT line so cannot use them. Are there others that dont require a BT line or will i be stuck using TalkTalk BB?

Thanks for any comments

pretty much no matter who you go with be it talktalk or anyone else you've still got a BT line (talktalk just happen to take the money and give it to BT) so you can still go with ** previous supplier ;)

thanks for the response. When i phoned BT to move my service to the new address they said it would cost me £124 to install a new line. They said something about not being able to use the one thats already there as it belonged to another company (i assumed talktalk).

I will call TalkTalk and see what they say.

Cheers

TalkTalk use LLU (local Loop unbundled) which is basicly spearate equipment than BT but still used in BT's exchanges. If you really don't want to go with talktalk then you can go with another LLU provider iirc such as Cable and wireless (bulldog broadband).

I am with TalkTalk atm and am experiencing faster and more consistent speeds than I ever did with my last provider who were on the highly recommended Entanet network. I previously paid £20 pcm and now I pay nothing. Talktalk have improved a lot over the past few months apparently. Luckily I have not had any problems so cannot vouch for their customer services who I hear can be dreadfull.
