Hey ill try and keep this short, recently took over a business and moved the broadband contract to TT, because they don't offer just broadband anymore had to transfer the line rental too, however it turns out that because the phone number isn't one of "theirs" they can't take it over and so they have changed the number (They at no point told me this would be happening before hand and their site even states you can "Keep your old number when you switch to TalkTalk").

This is obviously causing chaos as all the current customers have the original number as do Google, Yell, etc. Talktalk say the is nothing they can do as numbers are assigned to providers in blocks these days and it's not theirs /blah /blah.

I am thinking of trying to switch back to the previous provider (have found out who they were from the previous owners) for line/BB but this brings up the issue of my TT contract, would the fact they never mentioned this massive issue and their site basically led me to believe otherwise help me get out of this?

Not very helpful I know, but there's a reason they have a reputation for poor customer service.

I moved my home line from sky to plusnet who warned I would need a new number - fine for home use. Turns out they didn't so it's definitely possible.

TT outline there is a possibility of losing your number, but I'm on residential, don't know about TT Business procedures -

If you're joining TalkTalk from another provider such as BT, Sky or Virgin, we'll do our best to help you transfer your number to TalkTalk. In most cases you'll be able to keep it, and we'll confirm this when you place your order. Once you sign up we'll take care of everything including the transfer of your number. Please don't cancel your existing service yourself, as this will prevent you from transferring the number.

Sometimes when people have significant disputes with TT they get passed to, or contact directly, the CEO -

That is different to the main thing on their site that just says you will be able to keep the number, however it does also say they will inform you when you place the order, not post installation when it's changed.
