My son (10 yrs old) has just recently got interested in Karting. He's done some outdoor sessions at Daytona Tamworth and Milton Keynes - These are photos from the Tamworth track yesterday during a 20min practice session, taken on my new Tamron 70-180 F2.8 on a Sony A7 III. Pretty happy with the sharpness, image quality and reach.

Some more example photos from this lens 3 posts down from this.

It's always amusing seeing kids in Karts or Motocross bikes. All you see is this giant crash helmet and tiny legs walking around the pits. :D

So I've had the Tamron 70-180mm F2.8 for about 10 days now and i'm very pleased with the photo results and surprised how versatile it can be. It's sharp enough wide open, light weight (810g), AF seems fast enough and it has the fast (zoom) F2.8 aperture.
It also has a 'macro' mode which can provide about 0.5 life size and whilst not as good as a true macro lens it's good enough for the occasional macro type photo.

All this for about £1.2k UK price and even less imported.

The following images are some of the photos I've taken using it on my Sony A7 III, along with the EXIF info.

Great photos, are you still enjoying this lens? Any issues?

I am looking at potentially this, the 35-150mm or a used 70-200 GM gen 1. The 35-150mm stock situation is dire and also the weight puts me off like it does with the 70-200. Looking at reviews for this 70-180 they seem very positive just a few I have come across mentioning build quality specifically the front end (filter and hood thread).

Cheers
