Hello,

A well known high street retailer with the initials RS currently has a VIP exclusive deal (sign up to their mailing list -> VIP access) on the DC6s, with a £300 saving - RRP is £500 and they're currently up for sale for £200.

This is a ridiculous saving on what are quite frankly brilliant standmount speakers, well worth considering if you are looking to upgrade your speakers any time soon!

I wasn't sure now that OcUK are moving into the audio market - didn't want to get banned for naming a 'competitor'.....again...

Probably wouldn't get too much into names of companies selling gear similar to ocuk. Seem to be pretty relaxed in this section and would like it to stay that way.

That could prove problematic as the variety of equipment in Hi-Fi is huge and much of it is only available via ebay or Amazon.

This, to be honest. Could you figure out which retailer it was, from my description? If so, I don't see what the problem is, it maintains forum rules, stops me getting banned and is still intelligible.

Because you pretty much said who it was "Audio retailer, RS" which really isn't cryptic, so you may as well have just said who it was. Richer Sounds aren't a competitor to OcUK anyway. There might be a very very small overlap of products at some point, but largely the markets are very different, which based on OcUK's (ridiculous) "competitor" rules, Richer Sounds doesn't come under it. Hence why Amazon is allowed to be mentioned because of the variety of products they sell, they just ask not to mention prices of computer hardware on Amazon, or link to computer hardware there.

The thing is it is directly talking about another companies prices. Not saying I agree with rules or not just that I feel the mods in this section are more relaxed on things which I prefer and feel should stay.

Hmm not sure whether I should make the jump I was thinking of going with the Boston Acoustics A26 for £140 with a budget of £150 but the DC6 will blow anything under £150 out the water so may as well spend the extra then I won't need to upgrade any time soon either :p

You might find the bass somewhat recessed if going by comparison to the A26's so I would listent to them both. I have the A26's and am very pleased with them. I didn't have the room for floor standers and the A26's sit quite comfortably on my desk.

These are the expressos, so are bookshelf/standmount speakers :)

They are a bit lean bass wise too, depending on what you pair them with they could end up sounding a bit cold and analytical.

Where are you getting the A26s for £140 from? :o

£140 at peter tyson.

Think I might go with the A26's as they have good reviews and I would prefer the better bass extension. I have an Onkyo TX SR06 amp if that's any use.

I wonder how they would compare to a set of a active studio monitors such as the M-Audio BX8 which are £200.

From what I've read A26 are actually quite neutral but obviously they won't go as low as the BX8 which have an 8" driver.

I had mine from there, same price (in cherry). I was surprised by the fact that they look bigger than what they are from their photos (as I was worried about them fitting on my desk). I haven't checked recently but there was a 10% discount code on their website you could use when I purchased mine. I had to ring an order by phone though as the discount didn't register on checkout .

Edit: The 10% has gone from the website but you might still be able to haggle?
