When I first installed Win8.1 I noticed I could just turn the power on and tap keyboard to get it to boot.

I can no longer do this, does anyone know why ?

Thanks.

If not maybe a BIOS option?

There are both BIOS level power management and windows power management/keyboard features that can affect that.

I have a windows 7 Lenovo that has a power button on the keyboard which when pressed it turns the PC off, not tried turning it on via the power button.

if you go to control panel and check under power saving settings there is a section under there for what the power button does, not sure if this will effect the power button on the keyboard but worth a check

I lost the option to start the PC by taping the keyboard some time ago when the BIOS got confused and needed retraining on the memory timings. Today I had the same problems with the memory timings and had to flash the BIOS to get the PC running correctly. This sorted the memory timings but did not restore the tap start up option.

Its not something that your power button was set to put your PC into standby and tapping hte key starts it up?

On my 8.1 machine I use the sleep button on my HP keybaord, PC goes to sleep, can move the mouse about and it wont wake up till you press a key or click a button

My PC has always been set to never go to sleep and uses max power option all the time.
