ok thanks all i was just wondering as one of my friends said i could, as i don't know **** about water cooling so i though i ask here

Thanks Joshua

Tap water isnt going to magically make your PC or watercooling loop explode. What will happen is, over months, it will discolour, grow strange green algae and look like fish poop in it after a while.

What is important is tap water is also conductive, meaning if your loop leaks, your PC is at risk.

Distilled / Deionised water (2L from halfords is probably less than a tenner) is better, although it should be changed after a year or so.
You can buy it in Tescos, its not going to bankrupt you. Its not conductive although you still shouldnt go splashing it around with the power on.

Proper watercooling coolant with anti fungal stuff and funky colours is best, and XSPC and Mayhems are well respected brands.

Whatever you use, buy a funnel, and have the kitchen roll close by.

You can get 2.5Ltr containers of Carplan De-ionised water in Asda and Tesco for a couple of quid, less if you have a B&M nearby. Use a anti fungal/anti corrosive additive with it though.

As above no no no. It will grow algae over time, it will corrode the metals in the loop and it will conduct electricity if it leaks.

If you want to save money just buy a 2-5L bottle of deionised water from a car parts shop and a 1L bottle of antifreeze to mix with it (you want about a 80/20 ratio). That's how we did things in the old days and it still works just as well as the "specialist" fluids that have arrived to cash in, just doesn't offer as interesting colours.

Definitely not, although I did refill my Rajintek Triton with tap water and food colouring :P Definitely not advisable! (It's in a spare rig with cheap hardware)

I was planning on going with premixed as i am **** with ratios but if I was to mix some up say 1.5l of distilled water how much die and anti-fungi would I need to mix in?

Thanks Joshua

i dunno, a halfway-decent custom loop has got to be well over £200 in parts surely, why would you cheap out on the coolant? it's £8 for a litre of premix.
