Tape stuck in VCR

I know it's 2018 but theirs a tape stuck in my VCR a Panasonic NV HD635 have had a read of the service manual but it say i need to remove the tape mechanism so wondered if anyone has got any tricks up their sleeves before i get the screwdriver out

Pick the VCR up and put in dustbin...

Would hate to see what a VHS tape would look like on a 40"+ or 4k TV

What about my Gramophone and Tape Decks should they be dumped also theirs just something special about oldish stuff
