Does anyone know of Tartar sauce similar to McDonalds ?

I've tried a few and they are not very nice, either too sweet or too sour.

I know you can make them but im just looking keep it simple and buy it when needed.

If you're fussy about that sauce it's only going to take you about 5 minutes to make your own to perfection but I doubt you'll find a brand exactly the same as Maccy Ds unless you ask them what brand they use. Most of the fast food chains use brake brothers so there's a good chance that this is the tartare Maccy Ds use:

Make your own ?
Jar of mayo.
Finely chopped gherkins or capers.
Parsley, dill, tarragon.
Lemon juice or white wine vinegar.
Black pepper.
Caster sugar.
Mix all ingredients in a bowl until you get the flavour balance you like.
Thanks, I would rather buy a jar that us similar rather than finding and buying all the bits then make it and still find it off.

I imagine McDonalds produce their own sauces, it's cheaper when it's on that scale.

I agree with just making it, here's a simple recipe: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/241392/mcdonalds-tartar-sauce-copycat/

I would try and get Polish gherkins like Krakus or similar, they tend to work the best for tartar. All you really need to do is buy dried parsley, capers and the dill pickles. Everything else are staple ingredients you will probably have already.
Thanks ill also give this a try, dont use capers and the dill pickles I assume dill pickles (cant find) and gherkins are the same ?

I've tried the "Taste the difference" premium tartare from Sainsbury but that was truly disgusting/expensive and I've tried the Sainsbury "own brand" which is half the price and that was quite nice and well balanced for my fish finger butties but we've all got different taste buds haven't we so it's hard to know if other people will like the same flavours as me.

I haven't had a Maccy Ds fillet of fish for several years so I can't really remember what their tartare sauce tastes like but I'd be surprised if you hated the Sainsbury "own brand" tartare and for 80p it's worth a punt.

You can't go wrong with Heinz Original Salad Cream if you want to play it safe in terms of sweet/sour :)
Thanks ill check them out, ill also try Salad Cream but I what I wanted was a nice tartare sauce not overly sweet or vinery so that all you taste. like you said it can be disgusting and expensive

I was trying to do this a while back, needed something for my fish finger butties! Tried a few supermarket ones and they were all disgusting, then i saw one online called "Winiary Tartar Sauce", think it's Polish brand, reviews are saying it's creamy and less vinegary than others, at the time when i tried to buy some they were out of stock, but just checked now and most supermarkets seem to have them, might have to grab a jar. If you do try it then let us know!
Thanks, I went for colmans it was not too vinegary or too sweet. I also got tesco own it was slightly more vinegary but still nice.

they did the job for me, ill try a few others when I run out to see if I can find anything better.

In the time and money you've spent trying different brands, you could have made and perfected your own recipe lol
Not really I only get a craving on and off, that why I get the jars or get the takeaway for the big guys.
Time wise maybe 1 hour or so, I know I could make it but I would also spend more time just finding the products to make, then the time making it and the time practicing to getting something similar and the cost I would be more.
I could also have a lot of waste, it not something that I eat all the time.

if I could easily get the products to make it, in one place and get it quickly or when I want it would be another matter.

It's mayo, lemon juice, gherkins and capers (if you want to push the boat out but without is fine), you can't get much simpler than that and I don't mean to offend but what do you actually cook if making a tartare sauce is too difficult ?
I tried a few times but I was having a hard time getting the gherkins and capers, so I stopped bothering after that.
I will try again if I find them when I do my next shop but for now I managed to find something.

The few times I looked I did not find them, So I just got the jar.
Thats why I've just been getting the jars.
Gherkins and pickles is not something I buy at all normally.

Like I said the next time do a shop ill have another look if I find ill give it a try.

Ours has a little Polish section next to the Ramen/Pot noodles where you can find the Krakus Gherkins I imagine it'll be similar for most stores, the other branded Gherkins are kept on the sauces Isle
Thanks for the help, ill take a look next time in store.
