Has anyone found a way to get Task Manager to start when logging on to XP Pro? I know running taskman.exe from the Startup folder is a known problem in XP but wondered if anyone here had found a way round it.

I have a shortcut to task manager placed in the Startup folder, with it set to run minimised (so all I see is the CPU usage indicator in the system tray), and no taskbar button when it's minimised. Works for me.

Well, you've been very lucky. I've tried it set to normal window and minimised. I've even tried replacing %windir% with c:\windows and running it from a batch file but none of it works. As I said, it is a known problem and is believed to be due to the timing of certain services starting up. I was just hoping someone here who had had the problem had found a workround.
