Just done a fresh install, the first time I rebooted after installing vid card drivers it said the system had recovered from a serious error but all seemed to be well enough. The only problem I seem to have is that the Taskbar control panel applet is asking for the program to open it and I've not got a clue where to point it. Google hasn't been much help in this instance either.

Any ideas? Or would it be a good idea to do the install again if something like this has happened right away?

Cheers :)

It does, yes. Any way to fix it in the control panel though? Not a massive problem but I know it'll niggle at me..

Sounds like the control panel extention has become corrupt.

Put the Windows Cd in the cdrom drive and do the following
click start>Run and type SFC.exe /Scannow

This will replace any damaged or corrupt files with fresh ones from the cdrom, you may need to reinstall some drivers after this has finished.

Aargh, no I haven't. Installed SP2 and the problem returned, tried another completely fresh installation (I like everything to be in good shape from the off, naturally) and I'm getting the same thing. Noticed it's doing it with folder options too but everything else in control panel is OK.

I've installed with this disk many times before without a hitch so it's a bit baffling.
