Taskhostw.exe high CPU Usage (Windows 10)

Asking this on behalf of a mate who is having problems with his PC running Windows 10.

He says his system runs a bit slow ie mouse pointer, media etc. This seems to be worse when downloading from the internet (wifi).

After running a diagnostics it reports an Severity Error with the Taskhostw.exe using 92.5% of the CPU.

Any ideas on what this could be?

Try sfc /scannow in command prompt and see if that comes up with anything.

What is the system specs and how long have they had the problem for? Maybe a bad driver update causing the issue?

Cheers, it's a couple/few months old, specs he sent me:

Asus ROG Strix
Intel Core I5 7600K
8GB DDR4 3000 Veng
4GB EVGA GTX1050Ti SC
500GB 850 EVO M
3TB WD Blue
PCE-N15 Wireless PCI-E CARD

My first thought was a driver issue and I told him to check that.
