The samsung is the better drive however small word of advice, if your after the drive now then buy now as price hikes have come in to place accorss most major brands as of monday. The price will reflect this once older stocks sell out which as far as I know will be about a week or two...

With that considered and the price of a 250gb samsung ending up at £150 or more then the Sandisk is the better value for money drive.

I still cant decide between the 840 or the pro version which has the faster write speeds

chippy08, I would surely bank on Sandisk due to undisputed reasons like performance & reliability as they use the industry driven SandForce controllers (same controller as my Intel 520 SSD uses & is working like charm!). Write speeds on this SSD are also good - Seq write speeds upto 350 MB/s. even though Samsung Pro says seq write speeds can be upto 390MB/s, it is only in specs & when you do a actual test SandForce will be a winner, as they rely on award winning DuraWrite technology ;). Also, I advice you to listen to people who have already experienced the SSD rather than just going by specs sheet :)

I have a Sandisk 60gb SSD from last year and it's a fantastic little drive and for those who are debating between this or Samsung performance wise you won't be able to tell which is which in day to day operations (my Dad's computer has a Intel SSD and I see any notifiable difference).

I have the SanDisk Extreme 240gb and it's been a top notch drive tbh.

Very, very reliable with great performance too.

Still need the 240gb to go lower though, as there's competitors out there that you need to price match or beat.
