i have just fitted my new ACF7 to my DS3 + E6300, after i booted up i checked my temps. at idle i got 42c, i got the same when i was on stock HSF. then i added some load using TATs built in stress thing, temps went to over 60 in just a few seconds. using stock HSF i got just under 60.

i thought i would try Core Temp 0.94. at idle that shows temps at 24c idle and 35-40 load. i am using windows vista 32-bit. which should i trust more with temps?

Ive found the DS3 range of mobo`s to differ a lot on cpu temps. Ive 2 of the DS3 boards, Aug and Nov purchase dates, and with the same components ..differing by as much as 10- 15 degrees on the cpu temp.
TAT is a good choice to read the temps, but as far as im concerned, if i can run a pc, and do all i want (and thats a lot) then aslong as the temps aint in excess, why worry.

the problem is i need to up the vcore to get a higher clock, and that means higher temps. i dont want to go any hotter if TAT is the right one?

My vcore on my Ds3 - 6300 chip is 1.3625 , idle at 42 with a AF7. Ram is 2 x 1 gig corsair 6400 XMS2 @475 fsb (+ 0.2v) (7x475) At full load about 56- 57 max

vcore on my Ds3 - 6400 chip is stock volts , idle about 50 with a AF7. Ram is 3 gig of geil 6400 @ stock (+0.2 volts). Full load is 57-58. (8x400)

as you can see they differ with temps , both cases have great airflow , but my geil ram seriously holds my FSB back.

Have DS3 v.2 and use TAT. Currently clocked at 2.5GHz (no need to go higher at the moment) using 1.31Vcore and is idling at 43 degrees.

Under load in Orthos the temp only increases about 12 degrees to 55 degrees, using a scythe ninja rev. B.

ok on my system currently running Orthos (stock cooler @ 2400MHz) so these figs are fluctuating by 1 degree or so

Everest: cpu1: 54 cpu2: 54

CoreTemp: cpu1: 54 cpu2: 53

TAT: cpu1: 55 cpu2: 53

ok ive been looking around google and found that TAT doesnt give accurate readings in vista, so either use SpeedFan or Coretemp, both give same readings

I can't use TAT or Core temp on Vista, so my E6600 is stuck at default clocks

Core Temp works fine in Vista TAT doesnt though (on 64 anyway) and speedfan gives me the same temps as core temp
