Tatical ops?

God Tactical Ops... the memories. I played that a bit back in the day, can't say I liked it much though. It was a mod for UT originally wasn't it? I think it then went retail like CS.
I doubt this has much of a playerbase left now but why don't you just google it. I remember it was published by MicroProse when it went retail. Really going back though.
On a side note, this got me thinking of Global Ops... now that was great! The weapons had all sorts of attachments you could experiment with. I remember in the beta the levels had all sorts of truly bizarre texture bugs where a question mark would appear instead of a bullet hole when you shot at them.

you are indeed correct, phonesis. tactical ops - "to" to its fans - did start off as a ut mod.
i got into it during its early mod phases. was at its peak in version 2 - 2.2 iirc. i remember when it went retail and the game completely changed. a victim of commericalisation. the gameplay and graphics completely changed. it didn't feel like the fun mod i knew and loved, it felt like a game that was slapped together in a rush to meet deadlines.
the gameplay was drastically re-done via patches after the game went retail too.
all in all, a once great game with a once great and tight-nit community. all but dead now. their forums are still reletively active by the hardcore members of the community.
to be honest, counterstrike was better. in every single way.

used to love the game..used to play for dta clan..checked them out on mirc few weeks ago..they still play it as a clan..tactical assault is coming out for ut3..looks very good made by ex players and mappers from the original
