hey guys

ive fancied getting a tattoo for ages and ive seen this cross and it looks cool to me. clicky

just wanted something simple. Was going to have it done on the top right on my chest/pectoral.

Now i always recognised it from somewhere and it turns out its a german iron cross. Would anyone consider this racist? Would like to go swimming and take my top off and people start battering me.

i am in no way racist!

cheers

Not racist at all. The Maltese were using it before the German army. Even the swastika isn't racist in its original form, it's just the rotation and red and white surround that brings up the Nazi connotations

EDIT: In retrospect, the image name is iron cross, I'd be inclined to say this was the iron cross of the German army. Isn't the iron cross illegal in Germany as you're not allowed to bring up anything that glorifies the war, all you can do is apologise for it? (see Harry Enfield)

Although the symbol isn't racist, I think you will get a few funny looks because of it.

Like you said, first thing you think of is the german Iron cross which leads to WW2 and the Nazis.

But if you really like it, I wouldn't let that stop you.

The German Navy still use it on aircraft and it was associated with the German military then as it is today.

Racist ? I would say not although it isn't something I would go for.:)

For anyone that knows what it really is its completely harmless…

But for any self opinionated tabloid reader it’s a symbol they have seen in all those WW2 Nazi bashing films from the 70’s and means you’re a evil Jew hating person.

Personally I love it as its such a clean form and shape but I would never get it myself as I couldn’t be bothered explaining myself.

Long live the imperial eagle!

The Iron Cross is a military symbol used by many, many contries all over the world. It is not a 'racist' symbol.

The swastika is a wonderful symbol.

Irrespective of direction, angle or anything else, it has been used as a symbol of peace, love, understanding and unity for thousands of years.

Unfortunately, it has been tainted because an Austrian put it on a red, black and white flag then started being a bit of a naughty boy.

*n

Well the Iron Cross is still a German military decoration (only in Wartime), so if it was awarded now would the recepient necessarily be considered racist?

Therein lies the answer.

Did he get his bum slapped? :D

Just wanted to make sure that cross wasnt racist. I'd prefer to ask first than to get it done and post a pic on here lol!
