So the other half has two jobs. She started them around five months ago and the tax code on both has always been BR (Basic Rate). She didn't realise until I took a look, it looks like she has been overpaying each month on one of them. She isn't British, not sure if that makes a difference, but has a national insurance number, starts SK. No previous P45, I am guessing she should have filled in a P46.

I haven't had much finding the right tax office to write to, or ring. HRMC's website isn't that helpful, neither are her employers.

We live in Cambridge if that helps. We've drafted a letter, now we just need an address to send it to.

Anyone have an idea on what I should be doing to help her sort this out?

From April 01 2008, the employer should have at least got the information from her and sent in a P46 on her behalf if she didnt provide one or a P45. If they have not done this she should still be able to.

Alternatively, she should get the employers PAYE reference from the job where she earns the most. Then go on HMRC website and there is a tax office finder where you put in the first 3 digits then it will tell her the tax office to ring. They should then be able to send a tax notification to the employer fairly promptly.

Failing all else, wait till the end of the tax year and claim back a refund using the information on their website.
