Tax disc placement?

Oddball one this - basically I did the usual thing today and got myself a nice shiny alloy tax disc holder, the same one as I've had in quite a few of my cars - but anyway - the problem I have now is that the curvature and slope of the windscreen means it doesn't really fit, or stick properly at the correct points and won't.

Consequently it's fallen off (d'oh!) onto the dash, which I suspected it would do.........however, where it's fallen (bottom corner) is easily legible, in plain sight and not difficult to spot at all.

Would there be any problem fixing it there instead? At that point it's only about an inch from the screen itself anyway.

Oddly enough about 30 yards down the road I walked into a Renault that had a similar setup....

I recall the legislation is 'fitted in clear view on the bottom corner of the driver's windshield' or such?

Any input appreciated, just to put my mind at rest....

As long as its viewable and not obstructing your view I dont think it matters as long as it's in the windscreen..

I'm sorry I can't help with the tax disc question, but I would be interested in seeing some pics of the new purchase. (Did you get the one of CCCUK?)

Also do you mind if I email you or add you to MSN as I have some questions about a possible C4 purchase.

Cheers

Steve

If it's a Richbrook, it should come with a translucent spacer to compensate for curvature. If it's an old model that you have taken from car to car, you won't have it.

You can either double up on the adhesive pads (one on top of another) or get a spacer. A SAE to Richbrook and a nice letter requesting one will work. Or send me your address and I'll pop one in the post on Monday for you.

only a right jobs worth would do you for it. My tax disc is in the centre of the wind screen at the top. Never had any problems.

Ive also had a car taxed but not displaying without any problems. Only a proper jobs worth would do you for it though.

Same as mine, you can just see it in the pic, near the RVM. I haven't had any issues... so far :D

Mine's been sat on the dashboard since June. It used to slide around from side-to-side, but I then white-tacked it to the dash, where it's stayed since.

The way i figure it, is that it's still viewable from outside, it just makes my life easier when cleaning the window ;)

Cool Confused. I re-adhered mine yesterday so I'll see if it's still there today. The way the screens sweeps means that if it was on the dash it's only about 5mm from the glass at the shortest point anyway :D
