Tax dodging builder?

i didn't realise people in here were getting a 20% discount in shops and takeaways by paying with cash... oh wait.
It is not the customer benefitting in those cases. I have reliably heard of takeaways running separate tills for cash where customers have requested receipts and where they have not. You can guess the incentive.

Takeaways all pay their staff cash in hand so would not be surprised that they don't pay all other tax either.

Just Eat / EFT PDQ transactions all go through their bank so they will declare those. All the cash orders will be straight in their pocket at the end of the night.

i know exactly what you were implying.

however people were comparing them to OP's scenario and it is completely different.

if you walk into a takeaway for £10 cash or £10 card you get the same service / food.

however walk into a garage and the guy says it's X amount for the job but X -20% for cash then the customer knows they are dodging tax in that case.
