My wife has got a new job, 10 hours a week and she's a contractor for another lady with limited company. She's getting paid monthly and the work is admin stuff.

I'm pretty sure she needs to fill out a tax self assessment, but I'm little confused about whether she is classed as a sole trader?

Sole trader if she’s not set up as a limited company. If it’s 10hrs a week sole trader should be the most simple.

Still need an annual return and pay tax and NI if any is due

She will need to register online as self employed with the HMRC, follow this guide and it'll tell you what to do.
