Tax?

Hey all,

I've had my new job at The Link for nearly 2 months now and i'm loving it. I'm 18 years old.

My Annual Basic wage is £3,536, as it's only part time.

My standard hours are 16 but i do get a 30 min break so i only work 15 and half hours.

I've had 2 pay slips so far and on my first one i was taxed £32.78 PAYE tax. My second pay slip i was taxed £55 PAYE tax.

I've been told that i shouldn't be taxed because i earn less than £4.5k a year.

So firstly, what is this PAYE tax?

Secondly, should i be paying it?

Any idea how i find my local IR office as i've looked on the site but i must be blind.
