I know theres a few Taxi drivers on here and was wondering if they could lend a hand.

My dad's insurance is up for renewal and has asked me to help with getting quotes.... my places for normal car insurance are coming up rubbish.

confused.com gave a quote for £750 which he thought was fantastic (current company quote was 4k lol) but upon looking further at the insurer they actually don't cover Taxi's despite the job being clearly defined as Taxi driver and insured for business use with a silly high yearly mileage.

Any help/tips are very much appreciated :)

In your dad's case, a broker may be a good bet - Taxi Insurance is a specialist commercial risk and as such, regular motor insurers will either refuse to quote or load ridiculous amounts. Check Swintons, Endsleigh, Zurich Business (who I worked for) or ask a few of your dad's colleagues as you may have somewhere local that offers financial advice to taxi drivers (Tax, accounts, Insurance etc.)
Don't forget, a cheaper policy isn't always the best - you'll want to compare levels of 3rd party/passenger liability/injury cover (often 7 figures), a replacement taxi if his is off the road, personal injury, income protection & legal cover are also options that should be considered.
