We often get posts on here about poor dealer experiances, so I'm going to post a good one for a change.
I picked up my used Mk3 Mondeo from them in December. It's on a 51 plate (early 2002) and had done ~ 30k miles.
I got a 3 month warranty with it, although as usual this didn't cover such things as suspension components or any consumable parts, and excluded most of the brake system.
I phoned them a couple of weeks ago (during the last week of my warranty) to get the car booked in to have a few things investigated... A clonking sound from the rear which I suspected was rear subframe bushes (amazingly the Mk3 mondeo eats these at an alarming rate... 30k miles not being that unusual), and also sqeaking from the rear brakes after heavy use (which actually stopped while braking).
I suspected the braking problem was due to the calliper sticking, or maybe some vibration and perhaps some copper grease on the back of the pads would cover this.
They booked me in for this week and said that unfortauntely these issues wouldn't be covered by the warranty, but they'd investigate free of charge and see if the Sales dept would cover the cost of anything that needs doing.
I've just had a call from them. Rear subframe bushes are indeed in need of replacement. Unfortauntely they are on backorder so my car will need to go back in. What they have done however is replace my rear brake pads with new ones and give everything a good clean and this should stop the squeaking.
And best of all, Sales have agreed to pay for all the work (new rear pads, replacement rear subframe bushes + all labour).
well done folks
I must say I had a good feeling about them when they were almost falling over themselves to give me a test drive in the car (often garages aren't too keen to let younger folk go out in larger cars). I was really well looked after during the entire sales process and everyone I've encountered in both sales and servicing has been amazingly friendly and helpful.
Even the little touches are nice... automated reminder by txt message when your car is booked in for work etc.
