Hi, I’ve just taken delivery of this router, out of the box it was giving around 150mbps down and 5 - 8 up with a EE sim, the mast connection was showing as band 1 when checked on Cellmapper.
I currently also have a Huawei 535 333 and I get around 120 - 150mbps down and 5-8 up on EE, I connect to band 7 on mast 15748, 4g+ And CA as shown on LTE Manager app.
So my question is can I self select the band I want to use on the TCL? And if so how do I do it, thanks.

The simple answer appears to be no. The option doesn’t seem to be exposed in the user interface. It seems the modem decides which frequency set to use and gives you the best speed it can through whatever software algorithm has been built into it.

But it doesn’t appear to be a straight consumer device. I found the manuals on a WISP equipment website so it may be that your seller got the equipment from a WISP that has more options available although I assume you’ve already had a look at the options and the option isn’t there?

Thank you for your reply, perhaps not the answer I wanted, but in reality maybe the answer I was expecting.

just out of interest, do you, or other members know of any 5g router apart from the Zyxel 7101 that let you choose your own bands?

Many thanks.

Mikrotik Chateau 5G but in reality I’d be shocked if you could do a better job manually than the algorithm in the transceiver.

Thanks for your reply.
My problem is the signal on EE band 3 from mast 32859 is strong but doesn’t have the capacity, I connect to EE band 7 from mast 15748 and this is currently giving me 100 - 150 mbps on a Huawei 535 333.
If 15748 is out of action for some reason then the router will go to band 7 on mast 23868, but my speed will half.
The only mast near me that has EE 5g is to the best of my knowledge 15748.
I did a 5g test on my Motorola G50 phone, 11pm outside and it gave 200 down and 16up, I think I’m about at the furthest extent of the signal.
Hope some of this makes sense.
