That doesn't surprise me. It also tastes better. I've never been able to drink loads of water, it just bloats me.

Also...

Tea not only rehydrates as well as water does, but it can also protect against heart disease and some cancers, UK nutritionists found.

Hope that's true as I must drink about 6 or 7 cups of Assam tea a day.

What about the sugar and milk you put into it,if you do that of course. My mum drinks it with nothing last time i checked. I can do it with some milk and can cut out sugar if i must.

Ive actually went way off drinking tea :( used to be like 10 a day

Not sure, my Uncle was told not to drink anymore tea by his Doctor because it was dehydrating him too much. (He was drinking about 6 cups a day.)

I must admit i do like my tea really sweet (maybe 2 1/2 teaspoons). The findings were probably founded on tea on its own.

I gave up caffeine in drinks a while ago and only drink decaff now, I drink a few cups of decaff tea a day.

"Studies on caffeine have found very high doses dehydrate and everyone assumes that caffeine-containing beverages dehydrate. But even if you had a really, really strong cup of tea or coffee, which is quite hard to make, you would still have a net gain of fluid.

It's really hard to know who to believe these days.

"The evidence in humans is not as strong and more studies need to be done. But there are definite potential health benefits from the polyphenols in terms of reducing the risk of diseases such as heart disease and cancers."

HEHE so if you are a lab rat guys you will be a lot better off drinking 10 mugs of tea a day.

Im a coffee person myself, but have a strong respect for Earl grey.

As more people research food stuffs there are more and more claims about whats good for us and whats bad. I have a memory of somone telling me "dont eat burnt toast! you will get cancer" Then i lit my 10th ciggy of the day :)

That BBC link also says that the dehydrating effect of tea is an urban myth btw... I know nothing just indicating.

plus biscuits ... :) i love my biscuits

I don't believe any of these stories...I was used to drink 3 or 4 tea every day and one or two coffee every weekend. Last year, after visting food sensitivity clinic, I went cold turkey on them and I couldn't believe the effect they had on me after few days....my heart beating much slower than usual when walking fast and sleep like a log...it's all down to caffeine!

I drink barley or herbal tea now with a couple of coffee every weekend.

If you haven't tried it yet, then Madelines with tea are superb. Either Bonne Maman or the new Tesco own brand ones which are now also individually wrapped. Waitrose ones seem to have gone downhill the past few months sadly.

Dip one in and you'll be in heaven, or your money back.
