Teac software support on discontinued products

This is a question for anyone who knows about Teac HiFi gear.

I'm considering buying a Teac UD-501 Monaural DAC, the DAC is a discontinued product and has been replaced by the UD-505.

Now I can buy the UD-501 for £350 new old stock, the UD-505 (that replaces it) is a staggering £1,200+.

The UD-501 has support for Windows 10 USB, so no problem there. What I'm concerned about is I buy the DAC, upgrade to Windows 11 (say in 12 months time), then Teac never make a Windows 11 driver for the UD-501. Worst case situation however I can always use optical or S/PDIF, however it would be nice to know Teac would still make a Windows 11 driver for it.

What I'm really asking, does Teac have a period where they still support their products. Or the fact the unit is discontinued before Windows 11, there is zero chance of them making a Windows 11 driver for it in the future.

As mentioned question is aimed at people really familiar with how Teac support discontinued products.

The drivers on their support page seem to be ASIO drivers, so looks to be universally supported. Check out ASIO4ALL drivers.

I personally wouldn't worry about it, likely just plug and play anyway.

Somebody here had one and didn't get on with it, though. I forget who.

Edit: It was @mrk but was a different Teac product so nevermind.

I looked at ASIO4ALL drivers thank you.

When you say plug and play, do you think that DAC would be recognised in Windows without installing any drivers? For example I have a Blue Yeti USB microphone, and that is microphone is detected without installing drivers.

I would have thought so, yes.

I also think any provided drivers would work with W11 too. From my own tinkering with the preview, I’d expect a great amount of compatibility.

This is more a general question, but does Windows 11 support many of the existing Windows 10 drivers.
