Ive downloaded tf2 whilst ive been at work today and wil be playing it tongiht, however im just wondering what to expect. I had this game for my 360 and it was crap due to the simple fact it is team based and team games on 360's just dont seem to work well due to lack of communication.

Is it much better on pc ?

It's without a doubt my favourite PC game (a long side Portal :p) it's such a good laugh with a few friends or a server full of friendly people. I'd recommend you check out the GTFOGaming & Hampshire Heavies servers as the players are much better than on your average public server :)

If you fancy a game then add me to Steam or Xfire (username links in sig), I'll be online tonight at some point.

I've not played the console version, but it is my understanding that Valve have been supporting the PC version and neglecting the console versions. So with the PC version you will have extra weapons which can be unlocked as well as extra maps and extra game modes plus all the other game tweaks they have done.

The PC version has a very big community so you will never be short of people to play with. Like any PC multiplayer game you will have good servers and bad servers.

My prefered ones are the THG servers and H|H servers.

THG #1 - 89.145.117.74:27025
|H|H| TF2 #1 - HH1.THEHH.CO.UK:27015

Lots of people like the GTFO servers as well (not my cup of tea really!), but look out for them.

Also with the PC version you obviously have mouse and keyboard control which I personally very much prefer plus you will have the option of better graphics if you have a capable enough PC.

Not everyone will use voice comms but I always find if you make the effort yourself, you will have a few people join in as well on a decent server.

So in short, I can't tell you whether it is better than the console version, but what I can tell you is the PC version is one of the best online multiplayer FPSs in years!

The sense of community you get on the PC makes a huge difference. Find a server and play there on a regular basis.

Also, we have TF2 OcUK nights now and then, the next one is tomorrow night 8:30pm, always a laugh.

Agree with Mailman, Id like to mention Simiancage servers as well, always a fun game on there, nice bunch on people.

This wont effect the OP but Valve have announced they are removing all the items people have acquired through idling servers and applications. For the people that have got all their items legit, then they are putting a new hat in your inventory :> Yay for hats, Ive been playing a lot, and yet to get a hat, I want one for my spy :>

Have fun on TF2 :>

that sounds awesome, now i cant wait to get home and fire it up, i hope my system manages it ok but we will see. Is the game all based on team based so bomber and ctf etc?

It's without a doubt my favourite PC game

Has been mine on and off since it was out. (Excluding L4D and WoW before I kicked the habit) :D

Again, echoing what people have said, get some decent servers to play on that have existing communities:

www.thehh.co.uk - Add those hampshire heavy servers to your favourites

GTFO Gaming - Search google

There are plenty others, I stick with H|H because it's generally awesome. Five public servers, #1 and #2 are 24 man which is perfection and nearly ALWAYS full if not filling up fast. Retry and you're on one or the other in 5 minutes max. Seen many other OcUK guys playing on them aswell.

Also add the OcUK servers and try and get on the community games when they occur (keep an eye out for the thread arrising).

Really, really awesome game.

Hampshire heavys servers 1-3 are really good, good community and lots of communication & theres a fare few ocuk bods on there.
