Team Fortress 2

Personally I think the PC version lost the class it originally once had with the updates, items, hats and being regularly whored out for steam pre-order bonus items, but it has kept people playing. The beta was an awesome period with a great collective of players.

The PS3 version does seem to suffer from more unpatched exploits than the 360 version. Both are way behind the PC version though.
 
I remember buying TF2 for like £30 not long after release on PC and played it for about 4 hours. Could never really get into it. I'd hate to play it on console though, really does seem like a game that's meant for PC only.
 
Tf2 is a fantastic game, so much fun. I actually enjoy collecting hats and weapons etc so don't see what the fuss is about. Having said that, I played it on xbox 360 and it just seemed dead in comparison. If your son is enjoying it on PC then let him continue... Unless you want the PC back that is!
 
TF2 with the class updates were fine - some of the best FPS gaming I'd had in a few years since I quit CS and before WoW.

The hats fascination has completely ruined it.

Depends on how one looks at it.

Whilst the PC version is superior due to the constant updates it gets, the game has also changed so much throughout the years for better or worse.

The console versions may be inferior, but at least they also serve as a "time capsule" version to remind people of what the game originally was before, and some may even prefer this.

Console versions also suffer from lag and many, many less maps, the game hasn't changed THAT much, the new weapons and hats don't exactly break anything.

Overreaction really. I wouldn't touch it on console with a barge pole.
