I bought the 16GB kit (2x 8GB DDR3) of this RAM recently. It's sold as 1600MHz but my mobo (Asus M5A99X Evo r2.0) didn't set it up automatically. Initially it ran well below rated speed, so I went into the UEFI/BIOS and set it to 800MHz with the specified timings and all was well. However I just ran HWInfo64 to check load temps after installing extra cooling (-10oC ftw), and noticed this:

As you can see the maximum (XMP) profile is 800MHz in the summary screen, but in the actual info section it is listed as running at 800MHz but being capable of 933/1866MHz. Is this a mistake or am I missing something? I'm wondering whether the latter number is just the max the mobo supports or something.

Oh, and yes... My FX8350 is currently running at stock, despite being one of the easiest chips to clock ever. :o :p

Could the "Maximum supported" be the maximum supported by your motherboard, rather than the modules?

The Asus website says that 1866MHz will work without overclocking on your board.

Yeah I wondered that towards the end of my post. That's probably it, but I just wondered. I'm gonna have a stab at clocking it tomorrow now cooling is sorted, so wanted to cover the bases properly. Thanks. :)
