I just bought a matched 2gb pair from another supplier - my Corsair 4400C25 needs an RMA (one stick is giving errors in memtest).

The sticks arrived without heatspreaders attached even tho' they were mentioned in the description...

I called them and asked why they were not included.

Oops, they said, to be sure, we'll send them to you.

Can I run them in the meantime at DDR400 without heatspreaders attached, I asked.

I wouldn't feel comfortable about that, I'll DHL them to you tomorrow, he replied.

So, should I?

Or should I wait until the heatspreaders arrive given that I've got to put them on myself?

You shouldnt have to attach them yourself thats not what you bought but they really dont do a lot anyway except make the ram look nice. If your set on keeping them then they will be fine without

I tend to agree. I had rigged an 80mm fan inside my case to blow over the mosfets and memory slots (dfi n4 Ultra-D) and thought that the lack of 'spreaders might even be a benefit.

I'm just a bit concerned about the warranty...

Normally the warranty sticker is on the heat spreaders so its either void because they are removed or will be void when you fit them as the sticker will be damaged

Probably just a Cut and paste from the makers website direct to theirs.

The product changes and their website dosnt get updated.

Ive seen it a few times where retailers **** up the description or get them muddled.

The tech support forum advise that I should not install without heatspreaders and are implying I've removed them

Still, the guy replying is Chinese and may not have taken in what I was trying to say...
