So i've been setting up a new build with some 2666mhz memory, however this only defaults to 1333 when booting. The motherboard only has a maximum setting of 2400 without manually changing clocks, so i set it to that speed, pop in the timings that the ram specifies (11, 13, 13, 35) and the computer just fails to boot. Are there any other settings i should be looking at to run at the full speed?

O I don't with amd don't think xmp is supported,only for Intel

Have you tried @2133 mhz to start with? Then slowly raise the speed

It doesn't boot at 2133 either. the highest i've got it is @1866.
I may just leave it at that as it is just a family pc for work and stuff. if it's upgraded later before we get anything with DDR4 then maybe it will push it to the max then.
I can at least get it running at cas9@1866 rather than cas11@2666 so that's fairly decent.

Hi there

With AMD it can be very dependent on the mainboard.

But try to start with the following manual settings:-

1.65v for memory
12-14-14-38-2T for memory timings.

Then try different speeds, if 1866 is still maximum, the mainboard is the limitation. :(

Thanks Gibbo. I've tried out those timings and set it to 2133 and it doesn't post, so it looks like the motherboard is the issue then.

The motherboard does have DOCP which looks like an alternative to XMP. That finds the 2666 settings for the memory, however to get those speeds it has to mess with the CPU clock speeds (boosts it up to 4.4 ghz or something which I can't do on the stock cooler :p) and when i reduce the CPU multiplier to a more appropriate level, it's a no go. Either way, it doesn't post. :(
