Teaming - Losing connection with server problem

We have a servers with a 4 port network adapters and we have teamed them to increase the bandwidth. The problem is that every so often the connection is lost so there is 'write delay failure' which causes corruption or certain programs stop replaying files (Constant depending on program). If we stop the teaming and use one port connection all the problems disappear.

The servers are connected to Dell PowerConnect 6248 managed switches. Is there something I should setup on the switches for the teaming to work or is there something in the teaming setting on the adapter drivers I got to look out for?

Using 'Smart Load Balancing(TM) and Failover'

All the team type options:

Smart Load Balancing(TM) and Failover
Generic Trunking (FEC/GEC) 802.3ad-Draft Static
Link Aggregation (802.3ad)
SLB (Auto-FallbacK disable)


Is there any good software that I can use for testing and hopefully replicating the problem?

The only thing I recognise in the switch settings is Link Aggregation settings which I am not using. Is it better to use 'Link Aggregation ' than 'Smart Load Balancing(TM) and Failover'?
