Hey guys,

Hope this is the right place to post,as it is software. :)

Ive had my system run a TS server for ages,Only friends and family join it.

It worked fine,No problems for ages,Now all it does is " Failed to connect to server"

I've deleted the entire TS3 Server folder,Re-done it..still same issue.

I've gone into my Super hub and made sure the following ports are still open.

  • 9987
  • 30033
  • 10011

Having no luck,Not sure why it wont connect anymore..any ideas?

Appreciate the help.

Able to connect on the machine it's running on using localhost/127.0.0.1? Might be worth forwarding the ports in Windows Firewall too.

Thats done it,I can now connect and set up my teamspeak again..what does localhost mean though?..is it still private and only accessible to those who i give that ip too?

EDIT - Nobody else can connect to it :(

Localhost will only work for you (connects directly to the machine you're on), it's not routing through your router or anything. If that's working then it means something along the line is blocking others from getting to it. Did allowing the ports in windows firewall help?

Have you checked out Discord as an alternative? You can get a free dedicated voice server with all of the controls you'd expect from TS, that way you don't need to faf about with the hosting. We ditched the unofficial OcUK teamspeak server in preference.

Ah,gotcha..windows firewall is disabled as Kaspersky takes over that duty..however i never had to make any changes to kasperskys firewall before it was fine.
I will take a look.

Something to consider,Can you host it on your own machine and most importantly..does it work in Linux..as one of my family members machine runs linux!

Your WAN IP may have changed. Virgin don't do static unless you are a business customer.

Dont have a clue

You can't host it locally, but you don't need to, you get a free cloud server.
The client runs on windows, OSX, andrioid and iOS, but you can also connect via a web browser without using the dedicated client, so as long as firefox or chrome is available on the linux box it should be fine.

If you locally host, everyone needs to know your IP address to connect. If you don't pay for a static IP address, it will change at random meaning people can't connect anymore. If you go for a cloud based server, this wouldn't be an issue. With discord you don't connect to an IP as such, the server owner (you in this case) send's an invite with the server's ID (not IP address) to people you want to join.
