I've recently discovered teamviewer and I'm in absolute awe! To think of how much time I can now save as the family/friends computer support.

Unfortunately, when I connect to my laptop on my local home network the laptop screen will not turn off! Can anyone recommend a setting (or a program) to disable the monitor on my laptop?

The standard power settings do not activate.

It really is excellent software and the fact that it's free is fantastic. Very easy to use regardless of the user knowledge and I love how you don't even need to install it.

So... any suggestions of how to disable the monitor (or enable the power settings) of the remote computer??

Not sure what you're after, do you want to blank the screen while you're viewing another PC so what you're doing can't be seen? If so you can go to Actions > Show Black Screen

If you want to put the monitor to sleep for power saving reasons then just set the laptop's screen to go to sleep as it normally would.

It is an excellent piece of software, I use it on a daily basis to manage our customer's servers and provide support. Makes things so much easier and avoids a lot of on-site calls.

That's my point, the power settings do not activate when using teamViewer. I have the laptop set for the monitor to sleep after 1 minute, this works when teamviewer is not running.

I've tried the 'Show black screen' option and its not functional on my 8 y/o laptop; it results in a flashing black screen and you cannot use the remote system until the black screen feature is disabled!

Come on people. So many lovers of this awesome software, surely someone out there has some suggestions.

All I want is for the remote computer monitor to go to sleep.

As Craig321 said you need to enable it while you are in teamviewer connected to your pc. This is a security setting that prevent from someone seeing on the other end that what you do on your machine. I don't think you can switch the screen off just so you save some electricity.

Thanks guys but I know how to enable the 'black screen' function and it just does not work (as explained above). Which is why I'm trying to find another solution.

According to the manual, the 'black screen' function merely displays a black screen and does not enable the power saving features which allow a laptop screen/monitor to go to sleep. Hence why I don't want to use the blank screen function. My main aim is power saving.

So... anyone... is there a way to allow my monitor to go to sleep?

I'm looking for a solution that allows this as either a function within teamviewer, a windows setting or a seperate application.

I assume you're running the unattended client that runs as a service? It works fine on the PCs I've used.

I can't see what you're trying to do..?

Can you use remote desktop, this doesn't affect local power settings
